I finally gave in to the many requests from my friends to decorate me with henna. Zanzibari’s are huge fans of henna. Brides cover their arms, lower legs and chests. Unmarried girls usually only cover their wrists and hands. I only gave consent for a little on my feet….
Went swimming with my henna artist friends about an hour afterwards so it is already fading. It will probably last about 2 weeks.

Love the henna - I thought you had sandals on at first. I went without electricity for "a while" last night (ok, so it was only 19 hours and I was only at home for 6 of those hours. . . ) and it reminds me of so many things I take for granted - electricity - water (clean water) - flushing toilet - food in a refrigerator and freezer and gasoline to run a generator! I admire how you and those in the community make do with whatever the circumstances provide. I will continue to uphold you in my prayers.

Hey! Alissa!
My computer has been at the doctors. Just got it home! Boy, those beaches are so beautiful there! I think it would be fun to get a henna tattoo, just because I know I wouldn't have it forever. I look forward to your blog, you are always making lemonade out of lemons, you are so inspirational. Till next time!
