Back to Kizamkazi

Last week I began to make my goodbye rounds. One of my stops was Kizamkazi, to visit my friends at the restaurant I worked at for an afternoon.
I was planning to take a friend along but she was not feeling well the morning we were supposed to go so I departed alone. What would have normally been a 1 hour drive took me 2.5 on local transport, but I had fun talking with a person from mainland Tanzania who was heading to the same village to do a survey about solar power options.
I had no problems finding the place but shortly after I arrived I was informed that I really should spend the night. Of course I was not prepared with sleeping clothes or a toothbrush (by now you would think that I would learn to carry these with me at all times). I spent the day visiting family members, neighbors, school and working in the kitchen.

Rukia, friend I came to visit

A few of Rukia's family members. After purchasing a toothbrush and barrowing a kanga to sleep in I slept together in the same bed as Rukia and her two youngest daughters (front of above photo).

Cooking breakfast

Bucket bath behind the fence

Watching an evening game of football on the shore of the island where Rukia's youngest son Juma was a player.

Things don't always go as we plan, so it is a really good idea to go prepared for anything :-)
Sounds like fun watching the kids play football!!!
