Baby Update

I am just back from spending four days in Maponda, further north in Mozambique on the shore of Lake Malawi. On the drive to Maponda I received the news that the premature baby I helped take to the hospital had passed away; unfortunately I did not have internet or cell reception to update you while I was away. I have not been able to find out any more details but hope to go to their village tomorrow to sit with Mama and Anganga.
Still trying to digest all of the emotions. Death, especially of children, seems very common if not expected here—hard for me to understand. It is a scary thought to consider letting my mind accept this current reality.

That has to be a very hard thing to see and be around, the death of any child is a very sad thing.
Just know that you did a good thing helping the baby and the family.

Sorry about the baby loss. Just "keep looking up" - - as my dad used to say!

Also don't forget to take care of yourself!
