On Sunday morning I took a break from Sikuku and instead began my day with a 6 hour church service—fabulous but extremely loud!
In the afternoon I was picked up by a friend and taken on the rounds to visit the homes of several of their friends and relatives. I had the privilege of eating something in every home we stopped at.
Our first destination after finishing our visiting rounds was a Sikuku celebration similar to a fair. There were horse and camel rides. Children can buy cheap toys from booths. I think the main difference was that people are dressed in their best.
Next stop was driving by the Children’s Party I had attended the previous night. It looked like there were even more people there on night two.
Next stop, Forodhani, known as the best outdoor street food market in East Africa. It is open nightly throughout the year but during Sikuku everyone seems to be here. We walked around and chatted with a few people my friends knew but there were too many people to get food there for ourselves.
Finally grabbed a bite to eat at a street vendor and made it home.
