Eid Sikuku – Day Three/Four

Monday was the third of a 4 day Eid celebration (sikuku) in Zanzibar.
During the day I visited several families in my neighborhood and then in the evening the lady that works at the shop near to my house picked me up so that we could travel around and visit the homes of many of her relatives. Before visiting her relatives homes we stopped at her home so that we could pick up her sisters and nieces.

Our final stop on our rounds was Forodhani (same as Sikuku night three) where we visited and we ate Zanzibar pizza (a pocket of rolled dough filled with meat, cheese, egg, onion and then cut into bite size pieces...yum) and ice cream before heading home.

Day four I took off of any formal Sikuku activities; just had a meeting at the vocational center, went to the market and did some visiting nearby. I even visited a man who spoke Chiya*o (the language I was learning in Mozambique). I think he was surprised despite the fact that I am limited to carrying on the most basic of conversations.
